Spin & Win at Keells Nexus: Powered by NeoDay

Jurgen Swaans

Some projects make you want to share the news the moment they go live. The Spin & Win campaign in the Keells Nexus app is one of them. We are happy and proud that NeoDay powers this loyalty gamification mechanic for Keells, one of Sri Lanka's leading supermarket chains.

For readers less familiar with the brand: Keells is one of Sri Lanka's leading supermarket chains and part of the John Keells Group, one of the country's largest conglomerates. It is a household name in Sri Lankan retail with a long history of rewarding its shoppers, having pioneered coalition loyalty and mobile-based rewards in the market well before most of the industry, as covered by Daily FT.

Keells recently launched Nexus, its new loyalty app, bringing deals, points, and partner offers together in one place. Inside that app, shoppers now find something extra: a prize wheel. That wheel is our part of the story.

What Spin & Win looks like for shoppers

The mechanic is deliberately simple:

Step

What happens

Shop

The customer does their regular grocery run at Keells

Scan

They scan their Nexus QR code in the app at checkout

Spin

The app offers a spin on the prize wheel

Win

Instant rewards such as bill discounts and Keells products land directly in the app

No extra effort, no changed behavior. The campaign sits on top of something people already do every week, and that is exactly why we love it.

From scan to spin to reward: the mechanic lives inside an existing shopping habit.

Our part of the story

To be precise about credit: the Nexus app is Keells' own achievement. NeoDay's contribution is the Spin & Win mechanic itself. It runs on the same gamification engine behind gamified experiences like Instant Win and Shake & Win on the NeoDay platform, which brands use to add instant-win moments to their loyalty programs.

Seeing one of our mechanics live in supermarkets across Sri Lanka, inside an app from a brand shoppers have trusted for years, is exactly the kind of moment we started NeoDay for.

Why we believe in campaigns like this

Rewards that sit inside something people already do get used. Rewards that demand extra effort get ignored. A spin at checkout adds a small moment of anticipation to every visit, and that moment is what turns a loyalty app from a utility into something people enjoy opening. It is a pattern we see across the best retail loyalty programs: give members something to do, not just something to collect.

Congratulations to the Keells team for their vision, and thank you for trusting NeoDay with the wheel. Happy spinning!
