Gamified loyalty: NeoDay vs Antavo, Open Loyalty and Talon. One

Four loyalty app screens side by side showing challenges, scratch cards and reward screens

If you are choosing a gamified loyalty platform for an enterprise program, four names come up again and again: NeoDay, Antavo, Open Loyalty and Talon.One. All four offer challenges and some form of games. They differ sharply in who builds the member experience, how personalized the challenges get, and who on your side runs the campaigns every week.

The short answer. Pick NeoDay if you run stores and want personalized challenges, daily games and branded reward screens delivered for you, in your own app through an SDK, in a standalone app or on the web. Pick Antavo if your program is mostly ecommerce-led and you want ready integrations with tools such as Shopify and Klaviyo. Pick Open Loyalty if you want an API-first engine with social mechanics such as leaderboards and badges. Pick Talon. One if promotion rules and discounts are the heart of what you need.

We are NeoDay, so we are not neutral. That is why every statement about another vendor below comes from that vendor's own website, linked in place, and where something is not public we say so. Checked on 19 October 2026.

Comparison of four gamified loyalty platforms across games, challenges and member screens

Games, challenges and ready-made member screens are where the four platforms differ most.

How we compared gamified loyalty platforms

Enterprise buyers rarely ask whether a platform "has gamification". They all do. The questions that decide a shortlist are these:

  1. Breadth of mechanics: daily games, weekly challenges and monthly milestones, or only some of these.

  2. Personalized challenges: can the target, the products and the timing differ per member?

  3. Mission customization by marketing: can your team set up and change missions without a developer?

  4. Reward screen branding: who builds the screens members see, and can they carry your brand?

  5. Time to launch and pricing model.

NeoDay: personalized challenges and the member experience included

NeoDay is a loyalty platform for retailers and brands with stores. Its games and challenges are planned as one calendar in four rhythms: always-on points or status, monthly milestones, weekly challenges and daily games, all on one AI foundation called NeoD.ai (layered approach).

  • Personalized challenges. NeoD.ai proposes a personal goal, products and timing per member, and marketing approves before anything goes out. Personalized missions become visible once a member activates them.

  • Brand-funded challenges. Suppliers can fund challenges for their own products, which helps fuel, grocery and QSR programs pay for rewards.

  • Branded reward screens. The SDK puts prebuilt loyalty screens inside your app with your fonts, colors and icons. The standalone app is built in your brand and submitted to both stores by NeoDay.

  • Proof. Tesco ran a scratch-card campaign on NeoDay in Hungary, Czechia and Slovakia with more than 2 million plays and over 100,000 new app downloads in three months (Tesco story). Texaco added loyalty inside its existing app and saw +80% active users (Texaco case).

Best for: grocery, QSR, fuel, fashion and FMCG brands that want weekly challenges and daily games run by marketing, live in as little as 10 weeks.

Antavo: broad mechanics with an ecommerce bent

Antavo describes itself as API-first, with no-code tools for marketers. Its features page lists challenges, missions, badges, streaks, prize wheels, sweepstakes, scratch cards, treasure hunts, quizzes and clubs, plus gamified profiling to collect zero-party data (Antavo features). It names AI tools for planning and analysis (Antavo AI).

  • Strong points: a wide list of mechanics, ready integrations with Shopify, Klaviyo, Bloomreach and Braze, and wallet passes for Apple and Google.

  • Check during your evaluation: loyalty is embedded into your own channels, so ask how much screen work your app team does for challenge and reward screens.

Best for: retail, fashion and lifestyle brands with a strong ecommerce channel.

Open Loyalty: an API-first engine with social mechanics

Open Loyalty lists challenges and missions, badges and achievements, leaderboards, spin the wheel, scratch and win, lotteries and gamified referrals, and offers a white-label mobile app on top of its API (Open Loyalty). It runs on AWS with a separate instance per client and publishes a 99.99% uptime SLA (cloud page).

  • Strong points: social mechanics such as leaderboards are standard, and developers get full API access.

  • Check during your evaluation: its help center documents limits for automation campaigns (help center); check them against a plan with weekly challenges for a national member base.

Best for: teams with their own developers who want to own the experience on an API-first engine.

Talon. One: promotion logic first, gamification second

Talon. One is a promotion and loyalty engine. Its product page names gamified challenges and point promotions, with budgets and fraud protection, and "sub-50 ms response times" (Talon. One product). Ready-made games such as scratch cards are not described, and a member front end is not published.

  • Strong points: deep discount and promotion rules, and a free test environment for developers.

  • Check during your evaluation: who builds the challenge and reward screens, and whether marketing can run missions without developers.

Best for: brands whose main need is complex promotion logic across channels.

Actionable takeaways

  • Write down the three behaviors you want to change (visits, basket, app use) before you look at mechanics.

  • Ask each vendor to demo one personalized challenge and one branded reward screen, not a slide.

  • Ask who builds the member screens, and how long a new challenge takes to go live.

  • Ask how uplift is measured against a control group.

FAQ

What is the best gamified loyalty platform for enterprise retailers?

It depends on what you need most. NeoDay fits retailers and brands with stores that want personalized challenges, daily games and branded member screens delivered for them. Antavo suits ecommerce-led brands, Open Loyalty suits teams that want an API-first engine, and Talon. One suits programs built around promotion rules.

Which loyalty platforms offer personalized challenges?

NeoDay sets the target, products and timing of a challenge per member through NeoD.ai, with marketing approving the rules. Antavo offers segmentation on behavioral, RFM, lifecycle and preference signals. Ask every vendor to show a challenge that differs per member in a live demo.

Is NeoDay an alternative to Antavo for gamification?

Yes, especially for brands with stores. Both list challenges, scratch cards, wheel games and quizzes. NeoDay adds ready-made member screens through its SDK or a standalone app, and has published results in grocery, QSR and fuel.

Does Talon. One have games like scratch cards?

Talon. One's product page names gamified challenges and point promotions, but does not describe ready-made games such as scratch cards or spin the wheel. It is built first as a promotion engine.

Can I customize missions without developers?

With NeoDay, yes: marketing sets up missions, rewards and games from the back office, and they go live without an app release. With API-first platforms, check which parts your developers still need to build.

How long does it take to launch a gamified loyalty program?

NeoDay launches fully operational programs in as little as 10 weeks. Antavo says some customers went live in six weeks, and Open Loyalty publishes 6 to 12 weeks with its app. Talon. One does not publish a launch time.
